We are entering Scorpio season now, with our Sun fresh from a clarifying and FINAL square to Pluto in Capricorn. Do you see it? Feel it? We are integrating and closing a long and transformative chapter that began in 2008.

Pluto leaves Capricorn for Aquarius for good on November 19, 2024. So many of us are pondering and researching and feeling into what Pluto through Aquarius offers for humanity (cryptocurrency, AI, technocracy, cults, etc) but today as I continued on with my current Incubus kick, I am drawn to reflect and sink into the beautiful and spacious sense of having accomplished or achieved something real.

Regardless of how Pluto through Capricorn touches your unique natal chart, the 2008 - 2024 journey for humanity has been painful, revealing, and irreversible.

I am no historian or news-fiend, but some key storylines that remain alive in my mind include:

1. Massive revelation of corporate, financial, government, media, medical, and scientific fraud —> is there a single formerly trusted and powerful institution that has retained deep respect and trust of the people it purports to serve? IS THERE?
   
   We had front row seats to the nasty, greedy, and devastating effects of the 2008 banking crash (accurately depicted in the awesome move ‘The Big Short’) and no meaningful changes to the structure of our global financial system have cohered since. Keep in mind this disaster occurred the first year of Pluto’s journey through Capricorn, making this storyline particularly relevant.
   
   We can consider Covid through this lens as well; so many people altered their perception of, and relationship to, medicine and science following that period of time. The most fruitful takeaway, in my opinion, has been a growing interest in taking responsibility for our own health. This same interest in self-responsibility translates to the financial domain.
   

2. Bitcoin was birthed shortly after this financial crisis, and its storyline will be much more fleshed out as more Air enters our skies. Whereas an earthy sign like Capricorn organizes in a hierarchical way (think of how earth naturally piles into mounds or mountains), an airy sign like Aquarius forms networks and favours decentralization. The pieces are all set: we are certainly leaving Pluto in Capricorn with a great need for financial revolution and those seeds have already taken strong root.
   
   Perhaps the greatest gift of Bitcoin, from my humble understanding, is the ability to transact with anyone from anywhere at anytime with NO third party. Bitcoin supports direct exchange among peers, greatly reducing or entirely eliminating the need for government-printed money and banks. It does require us to step up to the risk and challenge of stepping into a custodial role over our own wealth.
   

3. Global conflict and reorganizing of national power dynamics. Not my area of expertise but consider the weakening perception of USA, ongoing death and destruction in the Middle East, and the Russia-Ukraine conflict which seems to be shifting alliances among numerous nations.
   

4. In healing work, very broadly speaking, there have been productive trends toward re-centering in the presence of the body, the living, pulsing body. Capricorn is the gateway to Heaven, only because it is here where the Sun has descended as low as he can possibly go, he has enmeshed and learned of Earth and Matter to the greatest degree and the only direction is up, up the mountain.
   
   Perhaps the same materialism that has stained our economic dynamics has blessed our relationship to our physical bodies. I observe so many people, especially women, shifting toward deeper healing involving nourishing foods, a change of pace, natural movement patterns, and other rather simplified tools.
   
   Coinciding with this is a genuine interest and conversation about what it means to be indigenous and what land and place actually means for human thriving. Capricorn is the sign of place, the place where we fall from the great heights of Sagittarius and slam into the harsh Saturnian reality of form, matter, life, death, aging, and resource management. Even the place where a blastocyst embeds into the uterine wall is of utmost importance to the fate and health of a woman’s pregnancy.

   I hope we can take the deepened connection to ground and Earth forward into the airy era, because we are going to need it to stay human.
   
   I started this reflection, of Pluto through Capricorn’s parting gifts, with drawing a rune. Degas, the rune of breakthrough, of sunshine peaking over a mountain after a long cold night, was the rune that stuck to my fingers.
